Emma Mechelle Ellis

I realize I never posted anything about Washington D.C... it will happen (who knows when...but it will happen) at some point.  In the meantime, I thought I would share what's been going on in our lives the past few weeks.  Maybe as an attempt for people to pardon me for not posting on this blog, and partly so you can just be in the loop!

Monday, July 7
Tyler and I flew back to Dallas from DC after spending about 31 nights there!  We had the BEST time and even though we were ready to come back, we were sad to leave behind our summer home.  Mostly because that meant we had to come back to reality...and moving...and working...and it meant that Emma was definitely closer to coming into this world...scary!

Tuesday, July 8
Loaded up some furniture from my parents house (thanks Mom and Dad) and traveled back to Waco!

Wednesday, July 9
Apartment was NOT ready for us to move into...but we moved anyways and let everyone work around us.  LONG...HOT...DAY!

Thursday, July 10
Spent the day sharing the apartment with maintenance.  Painting, ordering parts for the new appliances, installing new fixtures, replacing locks, etc.  Let the unpacking begin!

Friday, July 11
Started working for Baylor Student Activities!  Just a temporary job (thanks for the extra money Baylor) while we wait for Emma and while they hire a new office manager.

Saturday, July 12
Head to Austin for a wedding!

Sunday, July 13
Head back to Waco...keep unpacking.

Monday - Friday, July 14-18
A full week of work!

Friday, July 18
Head to Allen for Lynley's baby shower!

Sunday, July 20
Head back to Waco.

Monday - Friday, July 21-25
Full week of work while Tyler puts the finishing touches on the apartment.  Tyler's parents also came in town to check out our new place!

Saturday, July 26
APARTMENT IS FINISHED...boxes are unpacked, nursery is finished and organized, and all decor is up on the walls!

So naturally...

Sunday, July 27
My parents come into town to see the finished product!

And here we are in a new work week!  It is so nice to be able to go home in the evenings and not have any nailing, organizing, or cleaning to do!  A HUGE shout-out to Tyler who basically put the entire apartment together while I propped my giant feet up under my desk at work.

We are so happy with the new place, and even though we don't have pictures of the entire apartment yet, I do have pictures of my new favorite room...the nursery!  So, since there are lots of people who have been asking, here is the big reveal!  Emma Mechelle Ellis, I can't wait for you to love this room as much as I do...but you probably won't, so you know, that's cool too!

This is a view of her room from the doorway in the hall.

This is the view from the other side of the room...standing in front of the crib and looking to the door to the hall.

Bookcase that my parents painted and generously gave to baby Emma.  This this is LOADED with all of the precious little books that our friends and family got for her.  I've come in here a few mornings to sit and read some...I can't wait for her to be in my arms while I do that!

This was my grandmother's rocking chair.  My parents painted it to match the backing on the bookcase.  I LOVE how it turned out!

Baskets above the bookcase filled with little things...the hedgehog planter is from my friend Lynley.  She welcomes her little boy just 5 weeks after we welcome Emma!

This daily prayers was a gift from my friend Danielle.  I love reading these and praying over this little girl.  So thankful to have so much thought put into her nursery by our friends and family!

Another view of the rocking chair and window with the banner Kayla (sister) made for Emma's shower.  Saved me time by not having to make my own...thanks sissy!

More pictures of the baskets above the bookcase.

Kayla and Aaron got this book for Emma...the colors work perfect in her nursery and the cover is a copy of an embroidered book cover from a series of book covers that were embroidered by the same woman.

Again...another view with a globe...I love this globe!

Looking back at the crib.

Above the crib is the mobile I made.  It's little pinwheels...another one of my favorite parts of her room (let's face it though...they are all pretty much my favorite parts).

Emma's bedtime pals...which will not sleep with her...I know...NOTHING in the crib!

This is a closer picture of the quilt my mom and aunt made for Emma.  It is made up of all of the same fabrics I used to make her crib sheets, bed skirt, and changing pad covers.  So much love in that beautiful quilt!  Can't thank you enough mom (and Aunt Nancy)!

Wall decorations on the other side of her crib.  The post cards were a gift from Tyler's mom, and I knew I wanted to hang them somewhere in our home...they ended up working perfectly in here!  The picture in the bottom left shelf is my Dad's mom when she was a little girl.  The bouquet on top of the shelf is my bridesmaid's bouquet from Kayla's wedding.

Looking past the crib to the other side of the room at her changing table.

Changing table that used to be my dad's dresser and mom repainted and stained for Emma (even though she didn't know it would be for Emma at the time)!

Another view...the frames above the dresser are reserved for some original Kayla Mize watercolors!  Excited to see the finished product when she's done with her masterpieces!

Hanging to the right of the changing table is this christening gown that belonged to my mom's Dad.

Decorations on the wall to the left when you very first walk into her room.

Well, it's finished!  Her drawers are organized, her bag is packed, her laundry is washed, and all we are waiting for is her arrival!  11 more days until her due date, and my doctor says she'll come on her own!  We'll see...she's been a pretty stubborn baby so far.
